Ralph C. Ashley, DVM
Dr. Ashley received a B. S. in Animal Science from NCSU in 1973 and his DVM degree from the University of Georgia in 1977. He has practiced at Lexington Veterinary Associates since 1977. He has served on the Davidson County Board of Health and is a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lexington Kiwanis Club, and the Lexington Choral Society. Dr. Ashley is married to Jean; they have three children, six grandchildren and a Westie named Nicky. |
Douglas Cope Jr, DVM
Dr. Cope is a graduate of the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been a doctor with Lexington Veterinary Associates since 1988. He is currently serving on the Davidson County Board of Health. Dr. Cope lives in Lexington with his wife, Kim. The Copes raise and sell quality quarter & paint horses. Dr. Cope is also an ordained minister at Belews Creek Cowboy Church. |

Dr. Salli Steward graduated with a B. S. from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1992 and then went on to graduate from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She grew up in this community and has moved back to the area after practicing in Greensboro for 7 years. She treats your pets in all three of our offices. Dr. Steward lives in Midway with her husband Rob and their two children Alex and Emma. Her furry family members include, a Lab mix named Oscar, a Cocker mix named Stella, Finley a Cavalier King Charles spaniel , and a cat named Gracie.

Dr. Crystal Leath graduated with a bachelors of science in animal science from North Carolina State University in 2008. She graduated fro Auburn University College of Veterinary medicine in 2013. She practiced her first year at an emergency veterinary hospital and has since been in general practice. Dr. Leath’s interest include ophthalmology, surgery, and internal medicine. She lives in Lexington with her husband Michael, son Matthew and Benjamin the family pet beagle.

Dr. Andrew Cope grew up on a horse farm in Lexington, NC. His interest in veterinary medicine began at a young age while being exposed to various farm animals and following his father around the veterinary hospital, (some of you may know him, the “original” Dr. Cope). Dr. Andrew received his undergraduate degree from NC State University in 2008. He received his veterinary degree from Ross University (located on the island of St. Kitts, West Indies) in 2016 after completing his clinical training at the University of

Practice Manager Lexington Veterinary Hospital
Sandra is a 1995 Biological Science graduate of NC State University. She has been the practice manager of Lexington Veterinary Associates since 2000. Sandra and her husband Chris have an adorable daughter named Claire and their dogs Diva, Shasta, Rudy and Percy. Sandra spends most of her free time watching her daughter dance and play the piano.
Office Manager Jordan Veterinary Hospital
Darla is the Office Manager, registered dental technician and veterinary assistant at Jordan Veterinary Hospital. She has been a part of Lexington Veterinary Associates since 1996. Her goal is to educate clients about pet health care, work to create a fear free environment for each individual pet and to make your experience at Jordan Veterinary Hospital pleasant and educational.
Office Manager Denton Animal Hospital
Somer has been with our organization for 21 years now. She started as a groomer/kennel technician, then moved to our Hickory Tree location as a veterinary assistant for 12 years. Somer moved to manage our Denton location in 2019. She lives in Lexington with her husband, Daniel and their daughter Shiloh. They have a Golden Retriever, Breesy and a rescue cat, named Rhew.

Melissa has been with our organization since 1999, exclusively at Hickory Tree for the past 24 years. She lives in Salisbury with her husband, Randy, and four dogs-Daisy Mae, Colt, & Chevie. Melissa’s goal as office manager is to ensure that you and your pet‘s needs are met with every visit to Hickory Tree.
